The Ins and Outs

Tasting & Consultation

Wedding cake -

This is probably the best part of the wedding cake process.  What can be better than trying out some yummy flavours and having a good old chat about your dream cake.

I am now sending out taster samples by post, allowing you to enjoy them in your own home and with whomever is worthy of sharing cake with :)  It will include 5 of my most popular flavours and fits through the letterbox, so no need to wait in!

I charge £15 for a taster box, however this is then deducted  from the overall cost of the cake, if you choose to have me make it for you.

When you are all booked in, we can arrange a time that suits to get together and start planning your perfect cake.  I hold consultations at my home in Kinson, however please feel free to send me a message if it is tricky to get here and we can arrange an alternative place to meet up.

I love hearing all about your wedding plans and it really helps for me to start envisioning a design if on the day you could bring along any inspiration for the cake including pictures you have found, invitations or colour swatches.

How Much Notice?

The earlier the better!  Generally a few months before your celebration date is ideal however it's always worth a message to check availability for more last minute cakes.  Wedding cakes tend to come in between 6 - 12 months and I have had some as early as 20 months prior, so its best to book in sooner rather than later to avoid your date being taken.

I can deliver free of charge within a 15 mile radius of BH11 on orders over £100. Beyond that I charge £1 per mile and cover Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, or you are very welcome to collect from sunny Bournemouth. If you live further afield, message me and I will see if we can work something out.  Delivery on cakes under £100 is also possible at an additional cost.  Please feel free to message and I can send over a price.

Wedding cakes can be .... interesting to deliver.  You never fully appreciate how brilliant or horrendous British roads are until you are set the challenge of delivering an intricate tiered cake.  It's frightening!

I really would recommend that you let us set up for you, so you can have a completely stress free day.

Booking & Payment - The Nitty-Gritty

To secure your order, I ask for a £25 deposit on celebration cakes and £50 for wedding cakes. From this point we go from a pencilled in booking to actual ink and we can start planning.  The remaining amount will be due two weeks before the delivery date for wedding cakes and 1 week before for celebration cakes.

Please note, until a deposit has been received, your date will be available for others to book .  I will however where  possible, let you know if interest has been expressed.  All deposits are non-refundable.

In the event of a cancellation when the final balance has been paid, 50% of the cake cost will be refunded back to you.  Unfortunately I will be unable to refund on orders cancelled within 5 days of the delivery date, as your cake will have already been set into motion.

Cake Stand Hire

I have a range of cake stands available for hire with a £50 returnable deposit which can be used with any order over £40 (cake stand to be returned to Kinson with all packaging included).  Message me for details and I will send across some pictures.

If you haven't managed to find the answer you were looking for, pop me an email or send me a message through the contact page and I will get back to you asap.
