So, it's a brand new year, therefore time I started the blog I insisted would be coming soon a fair few months ago.
It has been surprisingly hard to work out what would make an engaging and interesting first post, so I thought the best place to start would be a little bit about me, my loves and what I intend on posting about.
First things first, I love to bake! Savoury or sweet, i'm not picky, there is nothing better than a rainy day where you have the excuse to stay in and try a bunch of recipes. Yes, sometimes they are an epic fail, but that's part of the fun.
I have built up a pretty vast collection of cookbooks over the years, old and new. Nigella, Mary Berry, Jamie Oliver, Delia, I love them all, but there is a special place in my culinary heart for Ree Drummond, also known as The Pioneer Woman. She is a ranchers wife, living in Oklahoma and makes the tastiest comfort food around, it's like a big calorific hug! I have yet to find a recipe I haven't liked, but be warned, these recipes are not diet proof in the slightest, at all. This lady LOVES butter and all things naughty but delicious.
Secondly, I love to be creative, whether that be painting, designing, taking pictures or crafting. I am incredibly lucky to have a husband who not only tries my sometimes dodgy cooking experiments, but who is also equally as creative. My better half's name is Ben. He makes the most amazing (and i'm not even being biased) reclaimed skateboards, furniture and home-wares and is forever bring home lord only knows what to turn into something amazing. The plan will be to share tried and tested recipes, home hacks and crafting as well as step by step cake decorating tutorials and the occasional snippet of our home life along the sunny south coast. As they say, start as you mean to go on, so the 1st January seems like a good place to begin. Now I just need to stick to it!
Here's to 2017 being as much of a cracker as 2016.
